Kaleo is an Icelandic rock band and a small town in Ghana - both might not interest you too much. Yet Kaléo is also the name of the new condensing boiler launched by Richel. This highly efficient boiler makes it possible to save on energy costs.

Condensing boilers Condensing boilers have gotten more and more attention in the last couple of years. The difference is that condensing boilers are equipped with one or more larger heat exchangers and that the temperature of the combustion products is lower. Since the exhaust gas is recycled through the condensing heat exchanger, the efficiency of a condensing boiler is way higher than of conventional boilers. 

Also the new Kaléo boilers are, depending on the model, equipped with 2, 3 or 4 stainless steel heat exchangers. "Each unit offers a wide range of loads and secures heat production", Antoine Lepilleur with Richel shows. "The heat exchangers can also operate in sequence, for enhanced modularity. Thanks to all of this, the total energy efficiency can increase to over 108%, so we, for sure, can call that highly energy-efficient." 

Compact and modular In the development of the system the company paid a lot of attention to the design of the instalment, making it highly compact and modular. In addition it is possible to install it either inside or outside the greenhouse. 

"We wanted to offer a solution for what growers did not need to build a heating control room or a dedicated water tank", Antoine explains. "The equipment is plug-and-play and easy to install, making the installation costs low and the investment cost very controllable." Kaléo has integrated regulation on the frame and can be controlled via the greenhouse's climate control unit.

The water temperature of the heating water is precisely controlled by the unit itself and can be regulated autonomous, if wanted. The temperature can be as low as 20 degrees C and up to 85 degrees. "Combined with a low-temperature distribution network, it makes it possible to heat crops efficiently at an affordable price."
