Week 12 B1G Power Ranking: Ohio State University beats Purdue University, Indiana’s dilemma continues

We think that the week we are most likely to see an upset is the Saturday that was not made. Despite some interesting duels, the big favorites persisted. This may be the least chaotic weekend we have witnessed since the start of the August season.

The results of week 11 did not translate into many major changes in this week’s power rankings. Of course, there are some minor changes, but there were no big climbers or sliders last weekend.

Therefore, don't waste any more time, let us continue to learn more about the strength rankings in the 12th week of B1G:

Last week: against Rutgers University, 38-3 L

Tom Allen’s team is terrible. There really isn't much to say at this point. Fortunately, the basketball season has begun, right?

Last week: at #18 Wisconsin, 35-7 L

Sometimes, there are signs that Northwest Airlines is competitive in the B1G West. However, in the end, this is a team that has no talent or depth to compete with many teams in the conference. To make matters worse, the Wildcats were officially eliminated from the bowl qualification in Saturday's loss to Wisconsin.

Scott Frost will return in 2022. It will be interesting to see how this team performed well in the last two games against Wisconsin and Iowa, knowing that there is absolutely nothing to lose.

Even at 4-6, Illinois has sometimes proven to be a dangerous team this season. Is it possible for the Fighting Illini team to create another upset in Iowa and defeat Northwestern University at the end of the year and enter the bowl game? For Bret Bielema's team, this will be a feat.

Last week: #7 Michigan State, 40-21 L

Although Maryland continues to prove that it is an improved team over previous seasons, it still cannot compete with the upper echelons of B1G. Throughout the season, inconsistency has been a problem for the Mike Locksley team. In terms of football defense, there is still a lot of work to be done.

Last week: In Indiana, 38-3 W

The big victory over Indiana may be Rutgers' most impressive performance this season. No, the Indians are not exactly a master, but this is the first time the Scarlet Cavaliers have dominated a Force 5 opponent from start to finish this season. That is a sign of growth. Because of this, Greg Schiano's team is now only one win away from qualifying for the bowl. Who would have thought that he could take this program out of the cellar in such a short time?

Next: At Pennsylvania State University

Last week: at #4 Ohio State, 59-31 L

Well, keep throwing the word "spoiler" out the window for a while. Purdue University was a team expected to challenge Ohio State University, but it was exhausted by horseshoes. Give credit to the boiler team for continuing to fight throughout the game-at least on the offensive end. Jeff Brom's team has just met an elite team. For this plan, an 8-win regular season is still far away, which is a big step in the right direction.

Last week: at #20 Iowa, 27-22 L

Minnesota can almost taste bacon, but again, Floyd in Rosedale is out of reach. For the first time this season, the Gophers lost in a back-to-back game, which may cause them to be eliminated from the B1G Western game. For some reason, PJ Fleck couldn't fully figure out Kirk Ferentz and Hawkeyes. Despite this, Minnesota is still a very competitive team in every game this season, despite battling serious injuries. Golden Gophers has made admirable efforts throughout the year.

Last week: vs. #6 Michigan, 21-17 L

For James Franklin's team, another toss game went in the wrong direction. The coach may have something to do with this, especially looking back at the early attempts at fake shots against Michigan. There is no doubt that from a roster perspective, Penn State is still one of the most talented teams in B1G. On Saturday-and the rest of the season-the coach made the team back down. With 2 games left, Penn State University still has a chance to make this season a respectable season, even if it will not win the B1G championship in December.

Last week: against Minnesota, 27-22 W

Remember when we were talking about the Hawkeyes being overrated? They have won the last two games and now have a chance to end the year with 10 victories. For Kirk Ferentz's team, it has been a good year. Turning to Alex Padilla seems to help the offense, at least in terms of big game ability. This is a good sign. Iowa is still fighting for the division title, but it needs some help from rivals Nebraska or Minnesota, relying on them to make Wisconsin lose the game. Maybe this will not happen, but the Hawkeyes had a conversation during the two weeks of the game, which is commendable.

Last week: With Northwest, 35-7 W

Does B1G have a hotter team than Wisconsin? Since the 1-3 start, the Badgers have been playing both sides of football and have won 6 consecutive games. The most impressive part? Five of the six victories achieved double-digit victories. Oh, Wisconsin's last 3 opponents did not score more than 7 points. This team was eliminated after such a bad start, but now it seems that this team will be defeated in the B1G West. The Badgers have only two victories before returning to the Lucas Petroleum Stadium.

Last week: At Pennsylvania State University, 21-17 W

Beating Pennsylvania State University at Beaver Stadium on Saturday may be the most impressive game of the season. Michigan must overcome the deficit in the early and late stages of the game to beat a good Penn State. When discussing this year's team, we saw the type of fighting that Jim Harbaugh talked about in detail. Michigan killed one of the two giants on Saturday. Now, before all eyes are on the end of the season against Ohio State on Thanksgiving weekend, the Wolverines will play a game with Maryland. Is this the team that caught up with the drought?

Last week: against Maryland, 40-21 W

Mel Tucker's team made a major response. A week ago, after losing 40-29 to Purdue University, the Spartans expressed their dissatisfaction with a low-quality project in Maryland. This is a good sign. But the biggest challenge is still waiting. Michigan State University will play back-to-back matches with Ohio State University and Pennsylvania State University to end this year's competition. Compared with some of the major projects in B1G, we will quickly find out the talent level ranking of Michigan State University.

Next up: at #4 Ohio State University

Last week: against #19 Purdue, 59-31 W

Some people worry that Ohio State University defeated Pennsylvania State University and Nebraska by only 9 points in the past two weeks. Obviously, Buckeye is tired of hearing it. They scored 59 points and won the game in a convincing manner, which allowed Purdue University to take away. There may be some defensive questions, but Ryan Day’s offense is now at a very high level.
